Use | Effective against bacteria commonly found in cosmetics |
1. Magnolia Bark Extract has natural and efficient broad-spectrum antibacterial properties
(1) Effective against common bacteria in cosmetics:
Magnolia total phenol has broad-spectrum antibacterial ability. The study found that at the concentration of 5-20ug/mL, Magnolia total phenol has a significant inhibitory effect on common bacteria and fungi including: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Aspergillus niger
(2) effective against oral cariogenic bacteria, periodontal pathogens, bad breath bacteria:
A number of studies have shown that magnolol and honokiol have strong inhibitory effects on five major cariogenic bacteria: Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguis, Actinomyces enisae, Actinomyces viscosus and Lactobacillus, with MIC as low as 3.9 μg/mL. The MIC of magnolol and honokiol against periodontal pathogens including Actinobacillus actinomycetes, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Platinum intermedium, Micrococcus luteus and Bacillus subtilis was 2.5 mg/mL. Since there are more than 300 kinds of bacteria in the mouth, the metabolites of bacteria are the main cause of bad breath. Studies have shown that consuming mints with Magnolia Bark Extract for 30 minutes kills 61% of bacteria
(3) Effective against pox-causing bacteria:
Magnolol and honokiol had strong antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and Propionibacterium granulosa with MIC of 9 μg/mL and 3-4 μg/mL, respectively. Propionibacterium acnes, also known as propionibacterium acnes, is the main bacteria causing acne and is closely related to the occurrence of acne.
2. Magnolia Bark Extract has antibacterial and multiple skin care effects
While playing an antibacterial and antiseptic role, Magnolia Bark Extract is also a functional skin care ingredient. Magnolol and honokiol can synergistically inhibit inflammation and anti-oxidation, improve skin erythema and inflammation, and help skin resist aging and maintain a young state.
